Co-creation Qualitative Research delivers New Product Development

Challenge

To determine what consumers expected from a new fruit snack concept and so provide clear product design guidelines to NPD.

Solution

We selected consumers who were not only representative of the target demographic, but who also had good sensory and descriptive skills. They participated in a series of co-creation Product Labs™ during which they further refined the concept and then made product(s) that reflected their interpretation of that concept.

Outcome

The most popular fruit types and combinations, size of pieces and combinations of textures were identified giving the client clear feedback on the colour, flavour and texture directions for the new product.

The recipes formed the basis of further development and product prototypes moved into further research.
